If you value traditions, feel connected to Buddhism and Shintoism philosophies and Qigong, Usui Reiki Ryoho is a wonderful practice for your own spiritual growth and/or to serve others with compassion and kindness.

Although there are many other modalities today, Reiki is a beautiful gateway into learning to sense and feel energy. Reiki Level I is a perfect standalone as an introduction to energy and self reflection. All Reiki levels taught by Amanda include lectures, discussions, and hands on experience/practice time. It is expected that you will practice weekly on friends/family/classmates after Level I/II to gain experience and confidence.
The entire training up to Master Teacher is a 42+ hour program.
There are four levels of Reiki with Amanda. The Reiki Integration level is optional and includes more personal mentoring and specialization based on your interests.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, “Universal Energy”, is an energy modality based upon Mikao Usui’s system of natural healing- Usui Reiki Ryoho. Reiki may be used to promote relaxation and wellness and it is not a religion although various aspects of Buddhism, Shintoism and Tibetan Shamanism are discussed in advanced levels.

What you will learn
Many students attend the Reiki training for personal growth and some do desire to offer sessions and serve others with the teachings. This Reiki lineage and method taught is specifically intended to affect the human energy field and performed fully clothed. Students learn various hand positions at power centers off the body, they learn Reiki symbols, Qi Gong for improving their own breath work and wellness, participate in ceremonies and attunements for each level, and in the higher levels learn mantras.
Format and Structure
Starting in 2024, Amanda will only be offering Reiki two times a year entirely in person with one training in Morehead City, NC (close to the beach) and another training somewhere else in North Carolina. You may register for Reiki Level I or II alone or both in the same weekend.
Each class will still be limited to six students. This class size gives you different practice experiences and a comfortable community to ask questions in as you are learning. You'll also receive feedback from Amanda.
Two decades of experience
Amanda has taught Reiki since 2012 actively and previously offered it for Continuing Education Credits for Massage Therapists. Amanda learned Reiki I/II in 2007 from Dale and Jeanne Stacy with EarthStar Spiritual Center in Greensboro, North Carolina and completed her Master/Teacher training with them in 2008. Who could benefit from Reiki Training?
Reiki is a modality many could benefit personally from, and many find ways to use it within their profession. Level I focuses on providing tools and practices for your own self-reflection and journey. Amanda works with people who integrate Reiki Training into their own spiritual journey and growth and/or find ways that it helps within their professions and relationships. Most do not offer sessions on a full time basis, nor quit their "day jobs".
Most students Amanda teaches today are not massage therapists and are not already doing energy work full time. Between 2012-2017 she offered CE's for massage therapists, and found a majority of her students were not massage therapists. They were people seeking inner peace, tools for reducing stress, a community of others interested in holistic wellness, and looking for a deeper connection to their spiritual side.
She has had students from various professions in her training programs including: hairstylists, educators, stay at home moms, soldiers, dental hygienists, flight attendants, IT folks, photographers, OT's, RN's & even once an MD. We can all use tools and practices for stress reduction and wellness, especially those in high stress professions, and in general...in the fast paced world today. Amanda especially enjoys working with professionals in the human and animal medical fields in teaching stress reduction techniques and energy work.
Who uses Reiki?
Groups of professions that could greatly benefit from learning Reiki and easily include it into serving others includes:
- Bodyworkers: massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
- Caregivers: childcare and elderly care professionals as well as family/friends serving in those roles.
- Mental Health and Medical Professionals: social workers, psychiatrists, counselors, medical doctors, veterinarians, vet techs, paramedics, and nurses.
- Birth Workers and Death Doulas: prenatal and postpartum doulas, midwives, midwifery assistants, childbirth educators, prenatal and postpartum yoga instructors, death doulas, death midwives, and hospice workers.
- Holistic Healers: naturopaths, herbalists, and aromatherapists.
- Chaplains and Interfaith Ministers
The beauty of Reiki is its adaptability—it can be integrated into various professions and lifestyles, promoting balance and well-being. It can enhance focus, creativity, and overall well-being while also managing stress and emotional resilience. This can apply to both receiving sessions and going through a training.
