Although there are many other modalities today, Reiki is a beautiful gateway into learning to sense and feel energy. Reiki Level I is a perfect standalone as an introduction to energy and self reflection. All Reiki levels taught by Amanda include lectures, discussions, and hands on experience/practice time. It is expected that you will practice weekly on friends/family/classmates after Level I/II to gain experience and confidence.
The entire training up to Master Teacher is a 42+ hour program.
There are four levels of Reiki with Amanda. The Reiki Integration level is optional and includes more personal mentoring and specialization based on your interests.
What is Reiki?
Reiki, “Universal Energy”, is an energy modality based upon Mikao Usui’s system of natural healing- Usui Reiki Ryoho. Reiki may be used to promote relaxation and wellness and it is not a religion although various aspects of Buddhism, Shintoism and Tibetan Shamanism are discussed in advanced levels.

What you will learn
Many students attend the Reiki training for personal growth and some do desire to offer sessions and serve others with the teachings. This Reiki lineage and method taught is hands-on and performed fully clothed. Students learn various hand holds at power centers on the body, they learn Reiki symbols, Qi Gong for improving their own breath work and wellness, participate in ceremonies and attunements for each level, and in the higher levels learn mantras.
Format and Structure
Starting in 2024, Amanda will only be offering Reiki two times a year entirely in person in Morehead City, NC (close to the beach). You may register for Reiki Level I or II alone or both in the same weekend.
Each class will still be limited to six students. This class size gives you different practice experiences and a comfortable community to ask questions in as you are learning. You'll also receive feedback from Amanda.
Two decades of experience
Amanda has taught Reiki since 2012 and previously offered it for Continuing Education Credits for Massage Therapists. Amanda learned Reiki I/II in 2007 from Dale and Jeanne Stacy with EarthStar Spiritual Center in Greensboro, North Carolina and completed her Master/Teacher training with them in 2008. Who could benefit from Reiki Training?
Reiki is a modality many could benefit personally from, and many find ways to use it within their profession. Level I focuses on providing tools and practices for your own self-reflection and journey. Amanda works with people who integrate Reiki Training into their own spiritual journey and growth and/or find ways that it helps within their professions and relationships. Most do not offer sessions on a full time basis, nor quit their "day jobs".
Most students Amanda teaches today are not massage therapists and are not already doing energy work full time. Between 2012-2017 she offered CE's for massage therapists, and found a majority of her students were not massage therapists. They were people seeking inner peace, tools for reducing stress, a community of others interested in holistic wellness, and looking for a deeper connection to their spiritual side.
She has had students from various professions in her training programs including: hairstylists, educators, stay at home moms, soldiers, dental hygienists, flight attendants, IT folks, photographers, OT's, RN's & even once an MD. We can all use tools and practices for stress reduction and wellness, especially those in high stress professions, and in general...in the fast paced world today. Amanda especially enjoys working with professionals in the human and animal medical fields in teaching stress reduction techniques and energy work.
Who uses Reiki?
Groups of professions that could greatly benefit from learning Reiki and easily include it into serving others includes:
- Bodyworkers: massage therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists, and occupational therapists.
- Caregivers: childcare and elderly care professionals as well as family/friends serving in those roles.
- Mental Health and Medical Professionals: social workers, psychiatrists, counselors, medical doctors, veterinarians, vet techs, paramedics, and nurses.
- Birth Workers and Death Doulas: prenatal and postpartum doulas, midwives, midwifery assistants, childbirth educators, prenatal and postpartum yoga instructors, death doulas, death midwives, and hospice workers.
- Holistic Healers: naturopaths, herbalists, and aromatherapists.
- Chaplains and Interfaith Ministers
The beauty of Reiki is its adaptability—it can be integrated into various professions and lifestyles, promoting balance and well-being. It can enhance focus, creativity, and overall well-being while also managing stress and emotional resilience. This can apply to both receiving sessions and going through a training.
Disclaimer: Check with your state licensing boards to determine if you can legally practice energy work without a license. Some states require massage therapy licenses or medical licenses.
Reiki Level I
First Degree
This 8-hour energy work class will introduce the foundations of Reiki, “Universal Energy.” This level is typically associated with working on our physical levels of our being.
In level I, we will:
- discuss the history and philosophy of this Japanese and Tibetan influenced energy modality;
- learn a basic 5 element Qigong series for self-awareness of personal energy flow;
- become familiar with sensing energy fields within our own bodies as well as those near to us;
- learn the Reiki hand positions for massage table sessions and seated chair sessions;
- learn how to perform self-healing/body blessing hand positions using Reiki;
- practice with classmates full Reiki sessions; and
- participate in a ritual attunement ceremony.
This class is suitable for those new to energy work as well as those who have studied other modalities.
Tuition includes manual and certification. Tuition may vary depending upon venue.

Reiki Level II
Second Degree
This 8-hour energy class will expand upon the techniques learned in Reiki I. This level is typically associated with the emotional/mental level of our being.
In level II, we will:
- discuss and learn the three symbols used for power, mental/emotional and distant Reiki;
- practice the symbols as we review hand positions;
- learn how to send distant Reiki;
- perform full sessions with symbols;
- develop a basic understanding of providing Reiki as a business (if desiring to provide sessions);
- participate in a ritual attunement ceremony.
Pre-req: Reiki Level I (if you've had Reiki I with another instructor you may still take this class if your lineage is similar, contact Amanda to discuss.)
Although you can take Level I/II in the same weekend, after years of teaching this, I see benefits for some who space the two classes out. Allowing Level I to "work" on you and taking the time to integrate the energy and knowledge at a slower pace with more practice, benefits some students in deeper ways. Whereas jumping in with both feet and going through both attunement ceremonies in one weekend is what others need.

She'll also request a phone conversation to go over what you previously learned so you'll be on the same page starting class with the others.

Reiki Master Practitioner
Prerequisites: Reiki I and II; 6 months or more since Reiki II; participation in at least 2 Reiki Shares; and actively have given at a minimum, 10 Reiki sessions for paying clients or for free.
This course is typically offered the first weekend in December. Starting in 2017 the Master Practitioner level will be a retreat weekend held in NC. All previous Master students are encouraged to attend to refresh and rejuvenate.
This is a 16-hour course focused on developing the student as a practitioner of Reiki. Although not everyone who completes this course has a business offering sessions. Many times, students just seek the additional perspectives and attunement experience for personal growth. This is the spiritual level of the Reiki training.
In the Master Practitioner weekend, we will:
- review Level I and II material;
- learn micro-cosmic orbit breathing techniques;
- learn, translate, and practice chanting two mantras;
- learn the Usui Reiki Master Symbol;
- learn and practice an 8 movements Qi Gong series for energy health;
- discuss principles of Buddhism and Shintoism;
- practice, practice, practice full Reiki sessions;
- learn the Medicine Buddha Chant;
- participate in a Medicine Buddha Ceremony; and
- participate in a ritual attunement Master Practitioner Ceremony.
Tuition: Depends upon commuter or accommodation options. Students who have previously taken Reiki Master Practitioner and would like to sit in again, please contact me for reduced pricing. Tuition includes manual and certification as a Reiki Master Practitioner (please note this class weekend does not certify you to teach or pass on attunements, this is to enhance your practice and for self growth at the spiritual level). If you wish to pass on attunements and/or teach Master Teacher is the next level.

Reiki Teacher
Prerequisite: Reiki Master Practitioner at a minimum one year prior (option to retake Master Practitioner at refresher price anytime); host at least 3 Reiki Shares on your own before Master Teacher and have provided at a minimum 10 sessions since Master Practitioner.
This 12 hour course continues from the Master weekend training and prepares the student to become a teacher of Reiki and the ability to pass on attunements. The majority of complaints from Reiki students across the board usually centers around the lack of confidence in offering attunements or teaching. Amanda has two decades of teaching experience in a variety of settings and her primary goal is for you to leave feeling confident in passing on attunements and in continuing to share the Reiki knowledge as a vessel and teacher.
In the Teacher level, we will:
- review Level I, II and Master Practitioner material;
- discuss Tibetan Shamanism;
- learn one Tibetan Symbol;
- discuss teaching perspectives;
- discuss teaching all levels;
- discuss rituals and ceremonies;
- learn how to give attunements for all levels; and
- participate in a ritual attunement Master Teacher Ceremony.
In order to complete the Teacher level, students will be required to write their own manuals within 6 months of the class based upon their personal inquiry, reflection, and research. Certificates will be given for Master Teacher after a private (in person or virtual) session with me reviewing and discussing the teaching path.
Tuition: $315-450* depending upon commuter or accommodation options. Students who have previously taken Reiki Teacher and would like to sit in again, please contact me for reduced pricing.

As a teacher of teachers, Amanda has taught several Reiki Master Teachers previously trained by others as they wanted the Tibetan perspectives to incorporate into their practice and to learn a different way of disseminating the information.
