As an Interfaith Funeral Celebrant, a combination of traditions from multiple religions may be woven into the ceremony, or it may take a more secular approach. The ceremony may take several forms and is unique to the person, family/friends, and location.
A Funeral Celebrant begins with researching a life by interviewing family and/or friends. These ceremonies, touch hearts by sharing memories that focus on the whole life of the person, spotlighting their interests and passions throughout life. In creating sacred spaces, appropriate rituals can be incorporated to help the deceased transition and mourners grieve.
Typically a celebrant will spend anywhere from 3-5 hours with family and/or friends listening to their stories with an open heart before the service. Writing the ceremony and organizing with others that may be speaking, can take up to an additional 10 hours. A Funeral Celebrant writes and conducts personalized funeral, memorial, and graveside services.

After my grandmother passed, I felt immense sadness as a large part of my identity seemed to have left with her. During the initial stages of mourning and grief, Amanda held space for me to experience reconnection. Through Reiki and meditation guided by Amanda, I was present with the essence of my grandmother. I sobbed uncontrollably but also felt the bliss of being with her after death. I cherish this experience as it allowed me to further cope with my grief through meditation and writing.

I also offer workshops on a variety of topics around death and dying. A passion of mine is helping others prepare and know themselves, and their own desires and wishes with their funerals, memorials, and celebrations of life and to articulate it to others. I strive to make it fun rather than a heavy topic.
